A big congratulations goes out to Rico Phillips on earning the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award. He has such a passion for hockey and the community and it is amazing to see how a community can come together to rally around a local hero. Rico care so much for the Flint community and you can see that in his daily actions. He is a man for others and is a great role model for young people in the community. The Kris Perani Hockey Foundation has been able to assist some of the students that Rico taught to play hockey, allowing them the opportunity to play a sport they would not otherwise be able to afford. This award will help bring awareness to Rico’s non- profit, Flint Inner City Youth Hockey Program.
